Scheduled Events

Talk:
Meetings and Programs are always on a Wednesday at 7 PM in the Conference Room of the Social Center at the University Terrace Good Samaritan Village, 3011 Buena Vida Circle, Las Cruces. (The Social Center is on the right, while traveling east on Buena Vida from Telshor.)

Walk:
Field trips are always on a Saturday. Where and when we meet to carpool varies with each field trip; please check each listing. Most field trips extend into the afternoon. Bring lunch, water, sun protection, plant field guides, and wear good walking shoes.

Participants must sign a release of liability form. Children must be accompanied by their parents. Programs and field trips are free, and Non-members are always welcome.

Talk: Wed. June 10, 7:00 PM Greg Mack, NMSU Geology Dept., will speak on Permian and Cretaceous fossil plants in southern NM. Walk: Sat. June 13, 8:00 AM We will have a field trip to the Zuhl Museum to view fossil plants.

Talk: Wed. July 8, 7:00 PM Ray Bowers will present June-Flowering Plants of the San Juan National Forest, Colorado, from Durango to the Alpine Tundra.

Walk: Sat. July 11, 7:00 AM Ray Bowers will lead us to see June wildflowers in the Sacramento Mts. Meet at east parking lot of K-Mart on Hwy 70

7-9 Aug: Annual NPSNM State Meeting in Taos- See April-June 2009 issue of NPSNM Newsletter for details/registration (no LC Chapter meeting)

Walk: Sat. August 15, 8:00 AM John Freyermuth and Carolyn Gressitt will lead a trip to the Peņa Blanca area, a favorite spot for which John has developed an extensive plant list. Meet at east end of the Rio Grande Bank parking lot at the corner of University and Telshor.

Talk: Wed. Sept. 9, 7:00 PM David Anderson, WSMR Range Manager, will give a presentation on the different vegetation types of the White Sands Missile Range.

Walk: Sat. Sept. 12, 8:00 AM Dave Anderson will lead us to various areas of the White Sands Missile Range to view its vegetation types. Meet at east parking lot of K-Mart on Hwy 70.

Talk: Wed. October 14, 7:00 PM Doug Burkett, WSMR Wildlife Biologist, will give a talk on the amphibians and reptiles of south-central New Mexico.

Walk: Sat. October 17, 8:00 AM John Freyermuth and Carolyn Gressitt will lead a trip to Red House Mountain near Hatch. Meet at east parking lot of K-Mart on Hwy 70.
