The Native Plant Society of New Mexico (NPSNM) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the conservation of the native flora of New Mexico. The Society, and its local chapters, work to educate its members and promote the the conservation of our native flora so that future generations may enjoy our valuable resource. Membership is open to any interested person, family or group. Members include a wide range of individuals from interested amateurs to professionals in botany, ecology and forestry.

Membership Benefits

In addition to the rewards of contributing to the conservation of New Mexico's native flora, members benefit from regional chapter meetings, field trips, an annual meeting and four issues of the Newsletter each year. Most chapters also hold plant sales and annual seed exchanges.

Additional benefits to members include discounts on a wide variety of books and New Mexico Wildflower posters. An extensive and current list of books providing information on native plant identification and gardening with native plants in New Mexico's diverse mountain and desert environments is maintained by the organization.

You will also qualify for membership in New Mexico Educators Federal Credit Union, a not-for-profit cooperative which provides a full range of financial services, including low cost mortgages, equity loans and auto loans; education loans for professional development, and a VisaŽ Platinum Rewards Card. Our Purpose

The purpose of the NPSNM is to promote the conservation of our native flora, plant habitats and encourage the appropriate use of native plants in New Mexico. We support research and educational activities in New Mexico schools and universities.

The Society encourages the use of suitable native plants in landscaping as a water conservation measure, for the improvement of wildlife habitat and because native plants are integral to the environment of the Southwest.

The Jack and Martha Carter Conservation Fund

In 2008, the Native Plant Society of New Mexico initiated an endowment fund to honor life-long conservationists Jack and Martha Carter. An endowment fund is a long-term investment in the future of the NPSNM. With the Jack and Martha Carter Conservation Fund, we will be better able to maintain balanced budgets and sustain our grant and donation programs that support education and research programs throughout the state.

For more information, please review the brochure and consider making a contribution to the Jack and Martha Carter Conservation Fund. Thanks for your support!
